Hello Oppo! This is it. I'm out of ideas for my lego car. I finally built the one thing left I wanted to build: a Boxer 12 for my lego car.
DISCLAIMER: I've been sitting on this article/idea for about a month, and a couple of pictures are out of date. Since some of these have been taken I've Dual turbocharged it, but I'll Put those pictures near the end.
I know that a couple of you have been just dying to hear more about that amazing kid who messes with Legos. Yeah, sounds awesome right? Anyway, if you Actually read my original article I mentioned building an actual Boxer engine, 12-cylinders if possible. So I did it. I estimated I've probably spent about 50 hours ish in this car overall.
The reason I wanted to build it is because I have a love of Boxer engines because of Porsche, which nearly matches my fondness for Audi. (Trust me, this makes LeMans very difficult, however Ive made the choice to root for Audi). Besides it adds a little bit of German in there. I mean I have LHD, a muscle car front, and an LFA rear.
So anyway about that engine... I think I am the only one to do this. Oh sure, some people have built actual boxer air compressed engines, but I think I'm the only one to build a technic boxer. However, going against the #1 rule of Legos, I had to modify bricks.
You see, the connecting rods that hold the Pistons are shaped to go together, and they form a perfect Piston... Setup.. Thing, so there is absolutly no offset in the block.
Since boxer engines have a greater offset then most engines due to the extra camshaft between each cylinder, I had to cut the camshaft pieces. I believe they were the "3" long pieces, but they were ~2-4mm to long. If I hadn't modified them, I would've had to place a connecting part between every 2 cylinders (per side, so 4 overall) since 1) I'm short on parts & 2) I had enough trouble getting the engine in as is.
Anyway enough explaining here's a picture:

It is a Massive engine TBH, but I didn't have to adjust the rear firewall. At first the engine was finky, and had to be adjusted constantly to sit & work right definitly with the hood closed tight it wouldn't work. However, when I went back and installed The turbos, I also figured out what was wrong (the tiny yellow piece at the very front of the engine was interfering with the hood closing arms, very easy fix). I also created a new mount for it on the firewall which is to boring to show, so onwards.
This engine sits a lot lower in the bay then the last one did, and you can tell between these two photos:

Maybe you saw in the top picture the thing on top of the roof. That happens to be a roof rack. While I hate stanced, I do think roof racks on lowered cars looks awesome *puts on flame suit*, and decided to put one on this *grabs fire extinguisher.* oh and I built a snowboard to go on it as well *starts dialing up the fire department*
However, I have removed them since it WAS Warming up, and alot of the snow in my area had melted BUT NOW ITS FUCKING SNOWING AGAIN, FUCK YOU MOTHERNATURE MAKE IT SPRING TIME IM DONE WITH THIS BS SNOW.
I digress.
Anyway, here are the turbochargers I have installed
I originally wanted to make them a lot bigger, but I didn't have the bay space to do it, and I saw a Porsches exposed turbocharger recently, and I was shocked how tiny it was. So I downsized and slapped them in.
As far as where I got these parts... Errrr, I had to make sacrifices...
This Hotrod was the donor for the 4 extra cylinders
And this pile of parts was the donor for all the connectors and such, it was an AT-AT, which never walked right. Thus the reason it became the main donor.

I'd like to thank Brickman, because w/o him I wouldn't have been able to do this... Thanks for answering all my dumb questions.
Now what's next? I have no idea, I'm out of ideas. I've done everything I've wanted to do on this car.
I think it's about time I get on to my next project...
Since I also turned 16 recently, & got my permit, I think once I get my first car I might perform a legitament engine swap.

I think that's actually a 180 degree V12 and not a boxer, but that doesn't matter. Still very cool.

Im almost positive it's not, it just looks that way, since I didn't seperate all the Pistons by pins.

Congrats, you have exploded my mind. Your design implicates that a flat-plane boxer 12 and a flat-plane 180 degree V12 can be exactly the same thing in terms of relevant principle (pairs of cylinders directly opposite, in balance) if not in common terminology. Now, since you still have common journals involved and your cylinders alternate in pairing instead of having a full count of journals and alternating cylinders by bank all the way down, I'm still more comfortable calling this a flat-plane V180 than a proper boxer, but it's very interesting.

yeah, I couldn't seperate the pairings without having to seperate parts of the engine.
I'm not complaining, you said I blew your mind, and I had to read your comment 4 times over to understand everything. I'll take it.
